Lake Sammamish State Park is a wonderful multifunctional 512-acre day-use park, which offers about 6,700-feet of waterfront on a famous Lake Sammamish. Historically the lake and the surrounding territories were significant for local Native American tribes, they gathered here for celebration of their winter festival, or potlatch. This area was a perfect place for the Native American tribes, as they fished here, hunted and gathered berries. The word ‘Sammamish’ is derived from the Indian word ‘Samena’ and means hunter.

This State Park offers its’ visitors to use wonderful natural resources and to enjoy nature. It should be said that the park is popular place for swimming, picnicking, kayaking, bird watching and wildlife viewing.

Lake Sammamish State Park is also popular among people who adore active recreation. The park features wonderful opportunities for going in for sports. Here you can find comfortable softball and sanded volleyball fields, but it is allowed to place volleyball nets anywhere on the beach. There are also numerous soccer fields that are managed by local clubs.

Children will also have lots to do here, because there are two big toy children’s play sites, perfect for the kids of all the ages.
Wonderful, well-maintained and easy hiking trails are offered in the park, the path goes through the beautiful nature along dirt and paved roads. All the hiking trails are family-friendly and may be easily hiked by the kids.

Lake Sammamish is a great place for kayaking. Kayaks can be rented in summer. The park also offers nine well-maintained watercraft ramps. They are situated off E. Lake Sammamish Parkway SE (GPS Coordinates: N 47º 33' 36" W 122º 3' 36.35").

The lake is also popular among fishermen, but you need to keep in mind that a recreational license is needed for fishing.

Lake Sammamish State Park is a perfect place for picnicking. The park features comfortable picnic shelters that can accommodate up to 500 people. The Creek shelter also provides breathtaking views of the lake. Come here with the whole family and enjoy a perfect picnic.
It goes without saying that Lake Sammamish State Park is a precious jewel for King County and the entire Washington State.
