Hurricane Hill Trail is considered to be extremely scenic and easy. It is located in the heart of the most famous and gorgeous park of Washington State in the Olympic National Park. Hiking on this trail offers breathtaking views that are so panoramic.

Hiking on a clear day gives the opportunity to enjoy 360 degree scenery all the way to Mount Baker, Jan Juan Island, Vancouver Island and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Summer is considered by many hikers the best season for enjoying this trail, because it offers not only scenic views, but also fields and meadows that are covered with the most beautiful flowers. Also be ready to meet marmots and deer that can be observed here regularly.

The Hurricane Hill Trail takes its’ beginning near the Hurricane Hill Visitor Center at the end of Hurricane Hill Road. This is a 3.2-mile path, which is well maintained and paved that gains only 700 feet till the end. Hurricane Hill Trail is very easy and can be hiked by families with small children. Keep in mind that this is a very popular trail among the hikers, so be prepared to meet not only animals, but also crowds of people. Start hiking very early or on a week day in order to avoid the crowds.

As we have already mentioned, summer is the best season for meeting animals here. Wildlife here is abundant. You can even encounter bears. People are not allowed to feed deer, because they need to fend for themselves.

Hurricane Hill Trail is also accessible in winter. In winter, Hurricane Hill visitors will enjoy a winter fabulous and fairy landscape. In winter this place looks totally different.

In winter this route can be quite difficult, it is recommended to check with the park about weather conditions.

Directions:

From Port Angeles

Leave US 101 and continue on Race Street to Hurricane Ridge Road. Pass the Olympic National Park Visitors Center and Wilderness Information Center. In winter, park here.

In summer, follow the signs and drive to the Hurricane Ridge Visitors Center and continue on Hurricane Hill Road till the trailhead parking lot.
