Frenchman Coulee is a perfect destination not only for the hikers, but also for climbers. Summer is the most “hot” season, because rock climbers come here to enjoy these tall basalt columns that form the coulee walls. Frenchman Coulee located near Quincy, Washington and is rated as moderate. The trail is accessible year-round.
Cowiche Canyon Conservancy Area is considered to be a perfect area for outdoor recreation. Palouse Falls State Park is a 105-acres day-use park with numerous opportunities for camping, hiking, kayaking, wildlife and bird viewing. The jewel of the park is a well-known Palouse Falls, it falls from the height of 198 feet into a “bowl” carved out of the black rock.
The Horsethief Butte Trail can be found in Columbia Hills State Park, the South Cascades. The Butte is the jewel of this area; it is situated near a beautiful 90-acre lake. From the top of the horseshoe-shaped natural monument visitors enjoy breathtaking and spectacular views.
The Bowl and Pitcher at Riverside State park is one of Spokane’s best wonders. This area is filled with natural and historical treasures. Bowl and Pitcher hike has something for everyone: from beautiful nature with basalt formations to a great picnic area and a campground.
Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park Backcountry offers wonderful shrub-steppe views as well as the feeling of freedom. Backcountry trail is a 5-mile (roundtrip) trail that takes its’ beginning from Recreation Road and takes you above gorgeous basalt cliffs.
