Mount Shuksan is a magnificent-glaciated massif that stands proudly within the North Cascades National Park, a picturesque region of Washington State. Its summit, known as Summit Pyramid, soars to an elevation of 9,131 feet , making it one of the most prominent peaks in the Cascade Range. The name "Shuksan" originates from the Lummi word "šéqsən," which aptly translates to "high peak." This moniker perfectly captures the mountain's imposing presence, as it dominates the skyline with its steep, ice- and snow-clad slopes. Mount Shuksan's geological history is as fascinating as its appearance. The mountain is primarily composed of Shuksan greenschist, a type of oceanic basalt that underwent metamorphism during the collision of the Easton terrane with the western coast of North America approximately 120 million years ago.
