Saltwater State Park is a beautiful 88-acre marine camping park with 1,445 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound and with abundant and diverse wildlife. The park offers fabulous views and great opportunities for wildlife-watching.
Saltwater State Park is one of the most favorite and popular parks for camping, picnics, clamming, scuba diving, hiking and swimming among the residents and guests of Tacoma and Seattle, because it is located halfway between these two cities.
The park is a great recreational destination and a must-visit place for residents and tourists because it is situated in the middle of urban life and offers beautiful forested trails and beach access.
Tourists have wonderful opportunities to explore diverse marine wildlife in tide pools. Enjoy the abundance of wildlife and remember to treat each species with respect. Each species is an important part of the larger ecosystem.
Saltwater State Park is the only park that has an artificial underwater reef that was created for divers who want to discover and explore sea life of Puget Sound. The reef is a popular area for scuba diving, but keep in mind that fishing and harvesting are prohibited in the reef area.
The park is located closely to the SeaTac Airport and aircrafts often fly over the park. Be prepared for the noise that can be disturbing.
The park also offers 52 RV and tent campsites, fire grills, tables, flush toilets, showers, etc. There are also 2 kitchens shelters without electricity and 147 unsheltered picnic tables. Most of the picnic sites are located closely to the beach and along McSorley Creek.
