Lake Boren Park is a popular community park that is situated near the Coal Creek Parkway. It is a park that gives the opportunity for family recreation, quiet and pleasant retreat near the lake.
When the city of Newcastle holds the community events here, the park doesn’t seem to be a quiet place. Community events which are held at the Lake Boren Park include different concerts, 4th of July celebration, Moonlight Movies and Newcastle Days.
People just love this park because they can enjoy here the paved walking paths, great children’s play area, fishing dock, picnic shelters and other facilities for active recreation.
There is also a hiking trail at the park; the entrance to it is marked by a small sign. The park is also famous for its’ Lake Boren Park Fuchsia Garden. The garden was installed by the Eastside Fuchsia Society. The garden was installed for several reasons. It is considered to be a test garden which determines temperature and light conditions for the growth of fuchsias. It also educates those who want to grow fuchsias in their gardens.
Picnic shelters can be also used if you submit submitting a Park Shelter Reservation Form to City Hall.
To cut a long story short, this is a great family friendly park. Even if you come here on a busy weekend you will not feel suffocated by the crowds. There is enough space for a great number of people. This park is a great hidden place along the busy Coal Creek Parkway.
