Park Features:
Dr. Jose Rizal Park is a 9.6-acre park, which is situated on the west slope of Beacon Hill in Seattle. The park offers stunning and dramatic views of Seattle, its’ downtown, Safeco Field, Columbia Tower, Century Link Field, The Great Wheel, the Port of Seattle, Elliot Bay and much more.
The park is named after Dr. Jose Rizal, a patriot and a hero from the Philippines. This man played an important role for reforms during the Spanish colonial era. Rizal made lasting contributions to medicine, political and social reform, engineering and a large number of other disciplines. Dr. Jose Rizal was wrongfully implicated for starting the Revolution on the Philippines. He was executed, but today, the Philippines celebrate a national holiday to honor this hero.
The views from this place are gorgeous, but the park also offers good possibilities for recreation. Children will enjoy a small playground, and families will enjoy wonderful BBQ pit with a small amphitheater.
It is worth while mentioning that there is a very good and big off-leash dog area.
In general, the park is well maintained and full of interesting features, including views of the southern part of downtown, the Port of Seattle, Elliot Bay and I-5.
Photographers say that the best time for taking pictures of this park is the first part of the day.
